Carnegie Council Partners with Best-Selling Textbook, "World Politics: Trend and Transformation"

Feb 23, 2012

Used by more than 200 colleges in 20 countries, World Politics: Trend and Transformation, by Charles W. Kegley, Jr. and co-author Shannon L. Blanton, is one of the most popular and influential textbooks on the market today.

And now World Politics is partnering with Carnegie Council to create a multimedia supplement to the written text.

In a new partnership for the latest edition (2012-2013), Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs provides multimedia resources to complement and illustrate each chapter. Students will find Council materials referenced on many pages of the book, and these materials are available to everyone, free of charge, on the Council's iTunes U site. Please go to www.ir101.org/kb. (For all Carnegie Council's resources on iTunes U, go to www.carnegieitunesu.org.)

Carnegie-produced resources include more than 100 short video clips from today's leading thinkers that illustrate key terms in international relations.

For example, watch economist Paul Krugman on protectionism; Princeton's Anne-Marie Slaughter (formerly director of policy planning for the U.S. Department of State) on multilateralism; and Nobel prize-winning author Wole Soyinka on decolonization.

There are also links to scholarly articles from the Council's peer-reviewed journal Ethics & International Affairs, along with a wealth of educational texts and topical videos from the Council's vast virtual library of online resources, to illustrate key concepts in the book.

"We are very excited to be partnering with this world-renowned textbook," said Carnegie Council President Joel Rosenthal. "We hope that students, educators, and indeed anyone interested in global affairs will find these resources thought-provoking and useful. This project was a labor of love for our staff, as it is very much in line with our mission, which is to be a nonpartisan, educational resource for a worldwide audience. We look forward to working with the textbook authors and with Wadsworth Cengage for many years to come."
