New Interview Series: Advocates for Ethics in Business

Jun 16, 2009

New York, NY--Nearly every organization faces difficult ethical dilemmas when doing business globally. How do they address them successfully?

To find out, Carnegie Council is launching Advocates for Ethics in Business, a unique series of audio interviews with business, civil society, and academic leaders.

Launched on June 16, the interviews will run every Tuesday through the summer. Find them online or listen to them as podcasts via iTunes or RSS Feed. This free series is available to public radio stations on request.

Among other topics, the conversations will touch on environmental sustainability, supply chain analysis, labor standards, and corporate giving as part of business identity creation. They will also examine how ethical business practices can potentially improve the bottom line.

Here is the lineup through July 28:

The interviews are conducted by radio professional Julia Kennedy, who is currently studying for an M.A. at Yale. Prior to that, Kennedy hosted and produced 51%, a nationally distributed public radio program. In a wide-ranging journalism career, she has also worked for NPR and washingtonpost.com.

"Through these talks, we aim to explore the ethical principles of business's responsibility to society, and to provide examples of best practices for companies to learn from," says Carnegie Council Program Director Devin Stewart. "The world's best companies are successful partly because they have a global strategy in place for dealing with ethical problems, while their less successful competitors tackle them on an ad hoc basis."
