Carnegie Council Launches Pilot Program and Appoints Dr. William Vocke

The newest member of the Carnegie Council is William C. Vock Jr. As Senior Fellow and Senior Program Director, he is responsible for developing new partnerships and educational materials for the Carnegie Ethics Studio project. The vision of the Ethics Studio is "a global, interactive network sharing content and discourse" on international policy issues. We invite universities, secondary schools, and public education programs around the world to join in shaping the parameters underlying our expectations about international policy.

The Ethics Studio partners, located at affiliated educational institutions around the world, will operate under licensed partnerships with the Carnegie Council. The local institutions will fund, establish, and maintain facilities known as Carnegie Ethics Centers. These franchise agreements will allow teachers and students access to an international community of scholars, experts, journalists, and the vital work they do on behalf of the Carnegie Council. The Carnegie Ethics Studio will offer its partners the opportunity to gather, work, and study in a room outfitted with the following resources:

• Audio, video, and print materials from the Carnegie Council archives
• High-speed internet connections (as local conditions allow)
• Access to the Ethics Studio web portal
• Conferencing capabilities
• The intellectual history of the Carnegie Council

William C. Vocke is a lifelong proponent of international education. He has been professor and Director of the Institute of World Affairs at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and recently resigned his position as a Professor at Taiwan’s top international affairs program at National Cheng Chi University. He also taught at National Taiwan University and at the Foreign Service Institute of the Foreign Ministry; consulted at the Ministry of Justice, International Investigations Bureau; and spoke regularly at academic and corporate events. He has produced and hosted over 600 television and radio programs on public channels in Wisconsin and Cincinnati.

The Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, established in 1914 by Andrew Carnegie, is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing understanding of the relationship between ethics and international affairs. The Carnegie Council's mission is to be the voice for ethics in international policy. It convenes agenda-setting forums and creates educational opportunities and information resources for a worldwide audience of teachers and students, journalists, international affairs professionals, and concerned citizens.
